Let’s keep them all lifted up in prayer, Wayne and Heather, his kids, Casey, Jessica, Andrew and Michael (Oaks graduates), Lauren (11^th grade at Oaks), Morgan (10 years old at Hillcrest) and Christian, 2 and Cash, 21 days old today.

Wayne Crownover, Heather’s husband, came out of brain surgery yesterday after 6 hours and is doing great. He can talk and move his arms and legs and by all accounts came through beautifully. He was the ONLY surgery for the day….and but for Wayne ’s family, the hospital seemed like a ghost town with everyone gone for Memorial Day weekend. The Crownovers had the waiting room and the hospital and staff all to themselves it was very serene and quiet. Heather told me that Tom Konjoyan referred to it as St. Wayne’s instead of St. John’s Hospital . I got to be there to support her for the day and it was one of the biggest honors of my life. To witness her faith and resolve and trust in God was truly amazing to me.

After Wayne came out of surgery and Heather was able to see him in ICU, she was so pleased to notice his color and how healthy he looked compared to when this journey first began last Friday with severe headaches. There were 2 tumors that Dr. Daniel Kelly removed that were “bleeding” that if not for the surgery, could definitely have resulted in a stroke or worse. So all things considered, it was a successful surgery and they are so grateful for the doctors stepping in and taking care of that immediately. Dr. Kelly is a renowned brain surgeon and head of the department at St. John’s . I couldn’t help but think that when he saw Wayne’s beautiful wife, Heather, and their newborn son, Cash, in her arms, that we wasn’t even more motivated to get this done perfectly and he did. Praise God.

We found out that this cancer is a “secondary” cancer related to the melanoma cancer he had back in 1998 on his arm. After testing for 5 years, it appeared the cancer was gone but seems like the cells can cause damage down the road which they did. He has 10 other small tumors in his brain that are inoperable and also they found cancer in his lungs and abdomen. Heather and Wayne will work with the oncologists and their team to come up with a plan to eradicate the small tumors that are inoperable. And yes, she is praying for a miracle and the hand of God that has covered their lives to bring healing to Wayne . The doctor said, you never know how people will respond to the treatment. “Some do, some don’t!” But we are praying for a miracle!

There are many miracles that have occurred already.

First, that this was diagnosed before anything worse could have happened.

Second, that the removal of the tumors went well. (Dr. Kelly is a one of the best in the country and St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica is the best for hospital for what he has.

Third, that they have the best doctors and the best hospital for treating this type of cancer. Dr. Onid Hamid, who they will be meeting with is also renowned as one of the best oncologists in the world working on Wayne ’s team.

Fourth, that she has a prayer team (YOU) and the covering of support from Christians in all of you, and also the hospital itself. Nurses were even praying with Heather. Praise God.

Fifth, Heather and Wayne ’s FAITH. They know Who is in control and they are trusting Him.

Just like it says in Romans 4:18, “Against all hope, Abraham in HOPE, believed…. And that is what they are doing right now taking one day at a time.

Wayne is in ICU right now and will be for the next day or two and then will be moved to regular room. There is a chance that he could be home as early as Thursday.

I will keep you all updated as I speak with Heather.

Please pray:

1. that the doctors will come up with an excellent plan to treat and contain this cancer
2. that Wayne ’s life will be extended according to the will of God
3. that the Lord will use Wayne ’s experience to bring glory to God and that people touched by this experience will come to Christ (this is one of the things Heather told me this morning)
4. that He will be pain free (which he is right now because believe it or not, the brain does not have a lot of pain centers even though it is the nerve capital of the body)
5. that all their financial needs and obligations will be met during this crisis
6. that Heather and family will continue to look to the Lord to supply all their needs
